5 out of 5 stars Not your ordinary use ...   February 5, 2009

I bought these shells for a rather unusual reason: housing for my colony of shell-dwelling cichlids, Neolamprologus multifasciatus. On the off chance a fellow fish fancier is looking for shells, these are the ones you want. They're 100% clean (no soaking required), and the perfect size for any of the shelldwellers. My multis just hatched out their first batch of eggs in one.

I can't say how good they are for serving escargots in, but if you're breeding any of the Tanganyika shelldwellers, you can't go wrong with a box of these shells, and the price is right. They arrived in perfect condition, without any breakage. One box will furnish up to a 20-gallon aquarium.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent shells!   June 30, 2010

I also bought these shells for my shell dwelling cichlids. The shells are a nice size for multies and arrived in excellent condition. I just washed them off real quick and laid them across the bottom. My multies quickly began picking out their new homes. Awesome product!

5 out of 5 stars good usable shells arived in 1 piece   August 2, 2010

I used these to cook Roland snailsRoland Giant Snails (12 Count), 7.75-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
These shells were large enough to perform the task at hand for those snails which I thought were large. If they were much larger it might have not produced a good enough seal around the snail to keep the butter in. I call them "just right"

3 out of 5 stars Too small to serve escargot in.   May 27, 2010

Not the best quality shells around. Also, they are very small. Smaller than a ping pong ball as a reviewer suggested.

These shells are made for decoration, rather than serving its original inhabitant. Hum, that last statement really was rather macabre. :)

The shells were in good shape with no breakage of any in any boxes I purchased. They had good color, although I hoped the shells would have been larger.
I used them to fill a large glass urn I bought at Pottery Barn. They look beautiful in there.
