I actually buy these for my dogs. They get these once or twice a week with cottage cheese for dinner. Can't comment on the taste myself, but the dogs adore them!

4 out of 5 stars Meaty and quite good, but not my favorite sardines   October 30, 2008

I ordered a bunch of the Roland Sardines in olive oil because my favorite (Season sardines in olive oil with bay leaf) have been out of stock for too long.

The Roland Sardines are a product of Morocco, whose waters border Spain and Portugal, which are arguably the best source of the Brisling sardines.

The tin I opened contained four large, plump sardines. The quantity of oil seemed a bit much compared to the volume of sardines, and the skin was somewhat ragged. The sardines were quite nicely-flavored, though I thought they smelled and tasted slightly more fishy than the Season sardines.

The price is very reasonable on these sardines, though if I have an option I will purchase my more expensive favorites. If they become available again I will post a side-by-side comparison.

I bought a few packages from Amazon dot calm since they had a good deal going. These sardines are not as good as the similar product from Season but they are
are good enough to eat and thats what I will do with them. My dogs like them too.

4 out of 5 stars Not too bad   January 13, 2010

Each box of sardines is nice and clean. However, every can inside the boxes is sticky and has particles of something on it. Each can has to be rinsed in the sink before opening. I have concerns about the cleanliness of the canning facility and the health risks involved because of that.

The sardines are actually pretty tasty if you can get past the dirty cans. Mine had between 3 and 5 sardines per can.

I will buy again because the price and taste are acceptable.

4 out of 5 stars Large sardines   November 9, 2009

As others have said, these are large sardines, two to three in a can. Be very careful opening them. They are filled to the top, and oil will get all over if you're not paying attention.
